During the I Doctum Seminar for Information Technology hold in Teófilo Otoni-MG-Brazil last week, a new Linux Distro has been released. The Muriqui Linux is the first Debian based Distro in Brazil that incorporates the easy-to-use Anaconda graphical installer from the Red Hat/Progeny Project. Another facility that is provided by the Muriqui Linux is the option to install a DRBL - Diskless Remote Boot Server automatically during the installation procedure. The principal aim of this effort is to provide a Distro specially adapted to Educational Environments and Digital Inclusion in Brazil, where the use of disk less stations for digital inclusion is growing fast and becoming standard. Moreover, the Distro has been tested in a group of “Telecentros” for Digital Inclusion in north-east of the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, with excellent results, what means that, in a region of the country where analphabetic rate achieves up to 65%, the local monitors are able to reinstall the system under remote orientation but with no serious difficulties. The development of this personalization of the Debian Distro is granted as a Free Software by DoctumTec, the Technology Support Department of the Instituto Doctum. DoctumTec is taking part on different Free Software Projects by means of a group of Linux Experts employers. They are contributing to the localization of Anaconda and DRBL Projects.
